What else you need to know: Adapting techniques for the intended readership

In Higher Communication, you must make sure that you provide information that is appropriate for the intended readership. Moreover you must adapt the techniques used according to the audience you’re writing for.

Your writing should be worded and constructed to meet the readers’ expectations. For example, if you’re asked to write a discursive essay, the format must follow the conventions of that particular essay form.

You need to take account of what the audience knows, and consider what they don’t know. By doing so, and getting the ‘balance’ right, you are adapting your writing techniques for your intended readers.
