What else you need to know: purpose and content
Sometimes people confuse purpose (what the writer was trying to do) with content (what the writing is all about). It’s important that you explain the purpose clearly, and then back it up with some reference to the content.As an example, think what the purpose of last night’s Coronation Street was.
The purpose was to entertain.
The content was about the lives of the residents of Coronation Street.
