In March 2004 the Pagan Federation paid for the 2001 Census to be recounted to discover what constituted 'another religion'. This was the category in the Census which allowed people to define their own religion. The Pagan Federation were interested to see how many members they had. The information revealed was interesting. According to the Census 'Jedi' is the fourth largest religion in Scotland with 14,052 followers. This category stemmed from the Star Wars films and an e-mail campaign for people to put 'Jedi' on the Census form in the mistaken belief that if enough people did this it would become a recognised religion. The breakdown of those in Scotland specifying another religion is as follows:

BeliefFollowers
Jedi14,052
Pagans1,930
Baha'i421
Scientologist53
Hare Krishna25
Brahma Kumaris11
