Learning Points:

  • Sectarianism is not just confined to Christianity (Catholic vs Protestant)
  • Showing respect for diversity in faiths and treating people equally
  • Encourage people to use the website to explore sectarianism and religious intolerance.

Use the scenario to:

1. Explore the characters:

  • What did the young people learn from using the site?
  • What did they learn about the way they treated Vijay?
  • What did they realise about their own faith?

2. Discuss incidences of sectarianism and religious intolerance:

  • Why is there conflict between Shia and Sunni Muslims?
  • Are there other religions which have such conflicts?
  • Are there any other examples of religious intolerance in Scotland?
  • What can you do to challenge sectarianism and religious intolerance?
