Stuart is responsible for the Curriculum Directorate. He leads in developing strategy, policy and programmes of work which bring together a number of key priorities in the context of Curriculum for Excellence and More Choices, More Chances. Key elements include, for example, support for early years education, developments in literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing, developments in assessment and recognising achievement, and support for Gaelic education.

Alan leads the Educational Improvement Directorate, which gathers and synthesises a wide range of evidence to provide professional advice on trends and futures.
