Who we are

Man walking through revolving doors

Learning and Teaching Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government, played a key role in transforming education in Scotland from 2000 to 2011. A non-departmental public body, LTS was at the heart of major developments in Scotland's education system.

On 1 July 2011, LTS became part of Education Scotland, a new executive agency that brings together Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education for Scotland (HMIE), LTS and some functions previously carried out by the Scottish Government.

LTS was the national body responsible for reviewing the curriculum, developing assessment to support learning and providing national guidance and advice to the education system on the use of ICT to support learning and teaching. These functions have now transferred to Education Scotland.

During this transitional stage, the LTS website will continue to offer a full range of information, support and resources.
