Our responsibilities

LTS is responsible for:

  • leading and supporting improvement in the delivery of education for children and young people
  • working closely with a wide range of partner organisations to share interesting innovative practice
  • providing advice, support, resources and staff development which can enhance the quality of learning and teaching
  • playing a key role in all major developments in Scottish education
  • moving education forward in partnership with key stakeholders.

Strategic Priorities 2006-2009

LTS has five strategic priorities:

  • Curriculum: Learning, Teaching and Assessment
  • Inclusion
  • Education Improvement
  • ICT for Learning
  • Modernising Services.

These provide a structure of broad strategic priorities and goals to position LTS as an ambitious and proactive national leader in Scotland's education sector.

Business Plan 2008-09

The annual business plan shows how we intend to deliver against the strategic objectives agreed with the LTS Board and CMT. The detail includes how our priorities will be implemented through our programmes of work and our directorates and shows the links to the Corporate balanced scorecard.
