Schools' ICT Programme

The Schools' ICT Programme oversees and directs the work of LTS on using information and communications technologies in education.

It includes work on:

  • the LTS Online Service
  • support for Glow, including professional development, support for online communities, the virtual advisory service and new technologies for learning
  • the Scottish Learning Festival
  • the National Assessment Bank, including the data integrity and technical requirements
  • commercial activities including the production of external CD-ROMs and maintenance of external websites.

All the projects in the Schools' ICT Programme of Work are managed by our Learning and Technology Directorate.

Programme Director

Ian Graham taught Physics in several schools before becoming involved in the Scottish Microelectronics Development Programme, developing educational software, and in particular managing a programme supporting children with Special Education Needs. He was Adviser in Computer Education in Highland overseeing the development of the subject as well as encouraging use of ICT across the curriculum - introducing such new technologies as email and the Internet. He moved to East Lothian as a Quality Improvement Officer where he managed the re-equipping and networking of all schools and training of all teachers through the New Opportunities Fund. In 2002, he moved to LTS as Principal Education Officer for the NGfL programme which has developed into the Schools ICT Programme.
