Tenders

When Learning and Teaching Scotland commissions work that is likely to cost more than £10,000 an Invitation to Tender will be issued.

These may be advertised on the Public Contracts Scotland and the LTS website. They are also occasionally advertised in the national press. Many higher value contracts may be advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union (formerly called OJEC).

There are two styles of tender documentation which are issued to companies or individuals that may tender for the work.

The first is a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire. The qualification questionnaire will assess the capacity of suppliers to fulfil their requirement prior to Invitation to Tender stage. It is intended that, where there is no pre-qualification stage in procurement the tenderer would be issued with the standard Invitation to Tender document.

The overall aim is to ensure that, wherever possible and, consistent with the need to secure value for money, any suitably qualified businesses or individuals will have the opportunity to compete for business.
