Role, remit and values

Learning and Teaching Scotland is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Scottish Government.

LTS is the main organisation for the development and support of the Scottish curriculum. Our role is to provide advice, support, resources and staff development to enhance the quality of learning and teaching in Scotland, combining expertise in the curriculum 0–18 with advice on the use of ICT in education.

We work in close partnership with the Scottish Government, HMIE, SQA, ADES, COSLA, education authorities, schools, early years establishments and a range of professional associations, playing a key role in the drive to improve learning and teaching.
