About LTS

Curriculum Directorate

The Curriculum Directorate has two areas of work, which are also two of LTS's programmes of work.

They are the:

  • Targeted Support Programme which covers supporting learners in literacy, numeracy, financial education, enterprise in education, support for learning including promoting 'more choices and more chances' for all learners, health and wellbeing, early years, international education, global citizenship and sustainable development.

  • Curriculum and Assessment Review Programme which covers developing Curriculum for Excellence, supporting appropriate approaches to assessment and recognising achievement, and support for National Qualifications. Also capacity building - including support for parental involvement, online communities, Gaelic, and youth work and schools.

Director of Curriculum and Assessment

Stuart is responsible for the Curriculum Directorate. He leads in developing strategy, policy and programmes of work which bring together a number of key priorities in the context of Curriculum for Excellence and More Choices, More Chances. Key elements include, for example, support for early years education, developments in literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing, developments in assessment and recognising achievement, and support for Gaelic education.
