This month's spotlight falls on Scholar. Scholar provides high quality web-based courses and a 'virtual college' support network for students studying specific National Qualifications. One of the latest resources to become available on Scholar is 'Simplified Mandarin'. This resource focuses on writing numbers in Mandarin, initially from 1 to 10 and then to 99.
Explanation is given regarding stroke order, and worksheets are provided for the learner with examples of how the strokes develop into characters. A reference sheet is also supplied for reinforcement. An audio resource is also available to allow the numbers to be heard and offers opportunities for practising the correct sound.
This is an interactive, engaging resource where the student listens to the sound, submits the number and is given a response regarding their accuracy.
