The future of National Qualifications within Curriculum for Excellence

Photo of Fiona Hyslop

On Thursday 11 June 2009 Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, announced the future arrangements for Scotland’s National Qualifications, which will come into effect from 2012/13.

Based on the findings from the recent nationwide Scottish Government consultation, the new changes will deliver qualifications that reflect Scotland's new approach to teaching and learning with a more streamlined system, which is simpler for pupils, parents and employers to understand.

National Qualifications Online now contains more information about these changes, including a summary of the new arrangements and links to frequently asked Questions and a timeline for implementation.
