Welcome to the MFLE email update for January. It's Chinese New Year on Friday 8 February, and we've got some ideas for you to try in the classroom. We've also got some new resources for French and German, and the latest news and professional development.

Learn more about the customs surrounding this festival, and find activities and resources for pupils of all ages.

This resource consists of ten exercises in listening for French which can be used in the early stages of language learning, from P7 - S2. Each exercise contains an audio recording of the listening text to play online or download, activities to accompany the recording and a transcript of the recording.

This resource contains two documents which may be of use to teachers of German in secondary schools.
The first document contains a list of 'false friends' - words which look like English words but have different meanings in German.
The second lists synonyms in German and some examples of German words which are similar but have different meanings (such as 'Bahnhof' and 'Bauernhof').
Thank you to Christine Tobin for contributing these to the MFLE.

This downloadable resource consists of a ghost story (in French), with associated tasks and teacher's notes on using the story in the classroom.
