Setting up a data file

Before pupils can begin playing the Dr Kawashima games they are required to set up a new data file. The Dr Kawashima game comes with four empty data file slots so in theory four pupils can share one game cartridge. This video takes you through the process to set up a new data file.

Carrying out a Brain Age check

The focus of the Dr Kawashima game is to get as low a brain age as possible. The worst score a player can get in the game is 80 years and the best is 20 years. The player can take as many brain age checks as they want in one day but the first score is the only one that is registered within the profile of the user. Have a look at how you 'take the test'.

Getting the brain warmed up

The game throws a number of mini-tasks at the player in order to develop a relationship between the player and the game but also to help the player understand ways in which they can exercise their brain.

This example involves the player being asked to draw random objects from memory. This is then compared with examples of the image embedded within the game.  See the player on this occasion attempt to draw a conch, a crab and the country of Japan from memory alone!
