An effective information skills course should help learners not just to seek information, but also to identify realistic information needs, plan search strategies and evaluate the quality and relevance of information found. Learners should get the opportunity to process the information, communicate it to others and use that information to arrive at a conclusion, support a point of view or solve a practical problem.
Seeking and processing information is a cycle and several models have been developed to describe it. One model is the PLUS Model.
