Information skills in the curriculum

Information skills can play an integral part in the delivery of 5–14 education. Here are just a few strands that can be covered by making use of the school library resource centre in delivery of the curriculum.

Using the technology (ICT)Using the networked workstations to access applications and Internet, logging on and off correctly. Printing.
Creating and presenting (ICT)Using word-processing template to type up report incorporating graphics.
Searching and researching (ICT)Choosing and using as variety of keywords. Using a search engine to find information. Copying and pasting illustrations. Using a CD-ROM to search for information.
Preparing for tasks (Environmental Studies)Planning a piece of research using headings, selecting a range of appropriate resources.
Carrying out tasks (Environmental Studies)Selecting information from a range of resources and taking notes from them.
