Use of nursery nurses and classroom assistants

A feature of the initial early intervention projects was the introduction of nursery nurses into Primary 1. The proven success of this initiative meant that a significant amount of the finance available was expended on putting nursery nurses or support assistants into the classrooms.

The national evaluation report indicated that this move undoubtedly contributed to the success of the project and was extremely successful in contributing to the raising of the children's levels of achievement.
