What is high quality PE?

The Department for Education and Skills document Learning through PE and Sport summarises exactly what everyone involved in physical education should be striving for in our schools and in the community.

High quality PE and school sport produces young people with the skills, understanding, desire and commitment to continue to improve and achieve in a range of PE, sport and health-enhancing activities in line with their abilities.

Characteristics of the outcomes of high quality PE and school sport are common to all ages and abilities.

According to this document, when there is high quality PE and school sport you will see young people that:

  • show a strong commitment to making PE and school sport an important and valuable part of their lives both in school and in the community
