Heather Cross has been teaching ‘on and off’ for over 35 years. She studied at Grahamstown Training College and at Rhodes University in South Africa. She is currently a P7 teacher but has also taught travelling children, pupils in an assessment centre and maths and business studies at secondary level.
Heather has already given her P7 pupils the worksheet with the problems to be tackled and the pupils start work on their own. The problem is to do with making different shapes, each with the same perimeter, and the pupils use cut-out squares of paper to help them. They discuss what they are doing with others on their table.
On the wall is a list of three aims of the lesson and at the end Heather makes sure that these have all been achieved.
