Celebrations, festivals, ceremonies and customs


• Show some understanding of the connection between customs/ceremonies and beliefs;
• be able to apply terms such as ritual, rites of passage etc. to the chosen area of study.


• Understand the significance of a chosen rite of passage or festival by investigating the ceremony or key beliefs associated with it.

Sacred writings, stories and key figures


• Show some knowledge and understanding of the different genres of religious literature eg history, myth, moral teaching;
• understand terms such as 'prophet' and 'gum' with examples from different religious traditions.


• Be able to explain the importance of sacred writings in two religions.
be able to identify key figures within a world religion and to explain their importance.


Beliefs

• Identify some similarities and differences in key beliefs in at least 2 religions, eg status of key figures, beliefs about life after death.


• Demonstrate awareness of the key concepts of two religions and be able to discuss similarities and differences using accurate terminology.
