Creating and designing

Use repertoire of movement skills to create personal and group responses and to devise more complex and extended solutions to problems or tasks, including those identified by the pupils themselves.

Demonstrate the ability to make high quality responses to complex tasks in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts;

through investigation, apply knowledge and understanding to create different combinations of movement skills in a variety of contexts.

show initiative in the identification of tasks and some imagination and originality in responses to tasks.

Pupils should be encouraged to find a variety of solutions to a task, e.g. in gymnastics demonstrate more than one combination of movement skills to work on an apparatus.

Responses should now indicate the ability to apply knowledge and understanding relating to structure and form in practical contexts in a wide range of physical activities, e.g. plan and perform a partner sequence in gymnastics, incorporating a variety of levels and floor patterns, find different ways to beat an opponent in a 3v2 games situation.
