| Section 1 Developing the Principles of 5-14: Successful Practice
A number of small steps can in time lead to substantial progress and bring a sense of real achievement. The following short case studies illustrate ways in which schools in different parts of Scotland have successfully addressed the development of some of the principles of the 5-14 curriculum. While the range of issues identified is not exhaustive, they nevertheless feature prominently in the day-to-day management of learning and teaching in many schools. These brief illustrations do not do justice to the commitment and creativity of the schools involved; nor do they necessarily provide an answer for all schools. What they do illustrate, however, is how schools can plan and manage developments.
The case studies cover the following themes, contexts and principles.
